Boredom and Dreaming Again

I've been really bored lately. It's completely pathetic. lol Maybe it's just because my husband's been gone for over 2 weeks now and I'm really lonely for him. He says he could be gone another 2-3 weeks. *sigh* He may be in Texas til the weekend, then go to Iowa for a week or two, then back to Texas for another week. I reckon his boss doesn't care that he has a family who needs him.

I bought myself a pair of tennis shoes for the first time in many years on Friday. I can't even remember the last time I wore a pair of tennis shoes. lol They're black slip-on Skecher's. I'm hoping they'll help motivate me to exercise. Don't want that money going to waste. Now I just need socks (I don't own any), something to work out in and an exercise DVD. :-\

Back to the boredom thing. I've been spending more time online lately. It's awful. lol It doesn't help that I created a Facebook page for myself a few days ago. Just what I needed. Another reason to get online. lol I've especially been sucked into taking quizzes there. Mainly the LOTR trivia. I have 20,000 points now and am considered a "Guru". I'm such a geek. lol

Hard to believe the kids are getting out of school in a couple weeks. Then we'll be going to the beach the week after that. I can't wait. We'll be staying in Southport this year.

I have to get Kelly a couple pairs of church shoes. Her black ones and her white ones are too small for her. Hopefully I can get that done soon. Only two of her dresses have matching shoes that fit her.

Okay, this may sound a little crazy, but I've been having these dreams or fantasies about myself. I desire a more active and interesting life, so I picture myself doing things and going places I wish I could. Running or hiking ("tramping") through a forest or over beautiful hills in NZ; working out til I have an amazing body (if only I didn't have PCOS); getting involved in something, anything, outside of my normal boring routine; having a bigger home (though not a mansion by any means) that's furnished and decorated exactly how I'd like; living in an old world, quaint downtown where I can walk to get errands done (the market, a diner, whatever) while wearing fabulous (though not expensive) clothes lol; traveling through New Zealand and Europe, and other things of that nature.

Yes, I've been dreaming again. I reckon I need to do something about that.

Season Finales

Bones
- Thank God (well, the writers lol) Booth isn't really dead. David Boreanaz is the reason I started watching this show. What a shock that Zach was the apprentice. Wow.

House - Oh. My. Word. I didn't expect to cry my eyes out, but I did. For about the last 10 minutes or so I could not stop crying. If I had been the only one home, I would've sobbed loudly. lol

CSI: Miami - What?! I can't believe what's-his-face is a traitor. Wow. Didn't see that coming.

American Idol - Ack! I tried to vote for David Cook a couple times, but it was busy (I tried two of the numbers) and then forgot to try again. *sigh* Oh, well. It's not like he won't be successful if he loses. And, from what I hear, it's better for those who don't win. Still, it would be great to cheer if his name is called as the winner.

I can't wait for the season finale of Lost.

DH, The Kids, Shopping, House Update

Where Charlie's staying is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The closest big town is Abilene. They're staying on some kind of compound (popular in TX, I guess lol) or ranch or something. They've had a lot of cook-outs. It's flat, dusty and boring there, according to Charlie. He says someone there (an operator? fellow mechanic?) wants him to move out there. lol Yeah, that's not going to happen.

Temperatures where Charlie is this week? Mid 90s. Yesterday the temperature, according to a bank sign, - 103°. Yuck.

Kelly is sick. She was up half the night Sunday coughing and then had a fever Monday morning. She's still fevered and will be staying home again today. Her class field trip to the zoo is today, but there's a chance it might rain or even storm, so I don't know if they'll cancel or postpone or just take their chances.

Sean has EOGs this week. It might sound awful, but I'm not expecting him to do well. He's failed all the pre-EOG tests horribly. *sigh*

Charlie was feeling bad because he wasn't here for Mother's Day and because he's been gone so long, so he gave me some money (twice what he has given me in the past) to go shopping. Typical of me, I spent much of it on clothes for the kids. lol I did the same thing with the money mom gave me for Mother's Day. I spent it on clothes for the kids. She was kind of annoyed about that (in a non-angry way lol) and all I could do was kind of laugh and say, "You know me." With the warm weather here and summer around the corner, they really needed new clothes.

Anyway, I did buy myself a couple things with the money Charlie gave me - two pretty, green vases (one is short and fat; the other is tall & almost slender), a blouse at Ann Taylor Loft (dark navy w/tiny white/cream polka dots) and a game (Rainbow Six Vegas - it's rated M, so I expected some profanity, but my goodness; they've said the F word about a hundred times in every form possible).

I also took the kids to Olive Garden for supper Friday night. I had the pasta e fagioli soup before my meal and it was very good. (I've had it many times before.) Dipping a bread stick in it once I'd eaten all the goodies out of it was so delicious! Kelly did that too and loved it. :)

We still haven't gotten our stimulus (sp?) check yet. It makes me kind of nervous with vacation getting closer. But Charlie told me on the phone last night that he's supposed to be getting a bonus from work (he didnt' say how much) and that we could use that if we don't get the stimulus check in time.

No word on our house lately and no showings. Someone had wanted to see it back when Sean had strep, but didn't call to schedule a different time to see it. Oh, well. I reckon it wasn't meant to be. Or maybe they'll check it out some other time. I did hear on the news last night that they're expecting house sales to rebound this year, so that's good. At any rate, our house will sell when the time is right.

Life lately

It's been a little while since my last entry, so I figured I should post an update. Not that there's a lot to tell or even anything all that interesting. lol

Charlie has been in Texas for over a week now. Actually, he and the co-worker who went with him were stuck in Louisiana for a few days. Their truck (a Ford, of course) broke down on the way to Texas in or near Alexandria. They made a couple trips to New Orleans while there. One trip was for Cajun food, another was for a swamp boat ride on a lake south of New Orleans.

After a few days, they got their truck back (it was in the repair shop) and made it to Corpus Christi. They did some work there and also enjoyed time at another worker's (crane operator?) place on Padre Island having cook-outs.

They went on to Abilene a couple days later. Charlie thinks they'll probably be there for about another week. From there, he might have to go to Iowa for a couple weeks.

The kids have less than a month now until school is out. Kelly's doing very well (100s on her math tests, reading workbooks, & spelling tests) and will no-doubt make it to second grade without any problems. Sean, unfortunately, continues to struggle. I won't be surprised if he ends up repeating fourth grade. He does well in a couple things, but is failing or barely passing reading (because of failing most reading tests), science and social studies. He had an A in math, but has a C now. That changed in just a matter of a few weeks. *sigh* His main teacher (he has a separate teacher for math) said that Sean won't "focus" and is often staring off into space. *shaking my head* It makes me wonder if maybe he has ADD.

Pippin has been vomiting a lot the last three or four days. An issue he's had a few times before. Thankfully he doesn't have bloody diarrhea this time. He's acting fine otherwise. Still playful and goofy. I reckon I'll have to give him rice with chicken broth until he gets better.

I haven't really been up to anything lately. Just the usual house-cleaning and taking care of the kids and our pets. And, of course, missing Charlie. I imagine the cell phone bill will be kind of high next month.

I wish I had more to do. Something that doesn't require driving. But that's rather difficult where we live. I'd love it if we lived somewhere close enough to things to do without having to drive. I picture living in a small Italian town or in New Zealand, or something like that around here if it exists.

I dream of "tramping" in New Zealand, browsing small Italian shops, having the beauty of New Zealand mountains or Italian hills right outside my window so that I could take lots of beautiful photographs, being close enough to a beach (in NZ would be great) or river or stream to go boating or canoeing or kayaking, attending festivals in Italy, riding a bike or Vespa around narrow Italian streets, and a number of other activities.

Yes, I'm a dreamer. Now if only I had the money to make my dreams come true. :-\

Dreams

The older I get, the more I desire change in my life and the more of life I want to experience. Why couldn't this have hit me when I was 25 instead of 35? lol I would have more time to get these things done. I was also in better shape at 25.

So here's my list of things I'd like to do or see or experience before I die. What do they call that? A life list? Bucket list? Whatever it's called, here's mine. Well, what I can think of within the next couple minutes anyway. I need to go to bed soon. I'll add to this list as I think of things.

  • Visit, and maybe move to, New Zealand. It'd be great to spend 2-4 weeks there touring both islands and visiting all the LOTR filming locations.
  • Visit all of Europe.
  • Go canoeing. I did this once when I was 16. I'd like to do it again.
  • Visit an archeaological dig. It's probably too late for me to become an archeaologist, but I can at least visit a dig.
  • Become a painter. No matter how crappy my "art" is. lol
  • Learn to swim.
  • Meet Orlando Bloom. lol Had to throw that in there. But my life won't be incomplete if I don't meet him. It'd just be nice is all. :-)
  • Be financially able to decorate every room in my house any way I choose. I have these visions in my head that I'd love to be able to make a reality. Interior decorating is one of my favorite things.
  • Get in shape. A hard one with PCOS, but I'd like to try again. Maybe this time it'll actually work.
  • Visit every state that I haven't been to yet. Just so that I can say that I have. :-)
  • Build the home of my dreams. Well, have someone build it for me anyway. Either something Victorian or a Spanish style house with a courtyard and a fountain, tile roof, etc. Or maybe a Tuscan style home. Any of those three will do. :-)
  • Visit Egypt. The pyramids, the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Valley of the Kings, old ruins, etc. Preferrably when the weather is not at its hottest.

Well, that's all I can think of for now.

Sean, Shopping, Sick, Stuff

Sean's rash (a reaction to amoxicillin) has pretty much cleared up. He's been put on a new medication. He only has to take this one once a day.

I could feel sickness coming, so Kelly and I (Sean was with my mom) got groceries on Thursday instead of Friday. I also got Sean four new t-shirts at Old Navy. (I had already gotten some for Kelly.) He really needed them. A lot of his t-shirts were too small for him. I bagged them up and brought them to Goodwill yesterday, along with 12 pairs of shoes that I didn't wear anymore and a duvet cover.

I did some cleaning and several loads of laundry on Friday. Didn't get as much done as I would've liked though.

Charlie got home from SC Friday afternoon. I didn't feel like going anywhere, so we ordered pizza for supper that night instead of going out as we normally do on Fridays.

I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I was about to throw up. (Sorry. lol) Ugh, it was awful. I was all pale and clammy. Thankfully, nothing came up, but I felt awful. I slept a lot that day. I had wanted to get some more cleaning done, but I just didn't feel up to it. I did manage to bring two quilts to my brother (they were too short - on the sides and the ends - for our new, bigger bed) and the items mentioned earlier in this entry to Goodwill. After that, I came home, got in one of the recliners, stretched out, covered up with an afghan and watched TV.

Charlie and the kids spent most of the day at the house of one of Charlie's friends. Charlie has his Nova there and was finishing up some painting. They didn't get home until about 7:00. We ordered some food from Outback a little later. (The kids had leftover pizza.) Charlie ordered the pork chops and I had filet mignon. We ate while watching the race. Which could've ended great, but things went wrong with just 3 laps to go. :-( Hopefully Junior will win the next race.

Sean was supposed to have his yearly check-up this Wednesday, but since he would have to miss school for that and he's already missed several days of school, I rescheduled it. The earliest they can see him is July 9th. Wow. But that's okay. It's not like he's a baby going through all the quick changes they go through.

I'm going through one of my dreaming-of-New-Zealand phases again. *shaking my head* lol It's not as bad as it usually is though. lol

My brother Del (age 33) has a new girlfriend. His first in many years. Her name is Jennifer and she has a 6-year-old son named Zach. I've never met her. I reckon if they get serious enough he'll bring her around. Not that he comes around much himself. Usually only when he wants something. :-\

Anyway, he says she has even less money then he does. (He's pretty poor, but his life could be better if he actually tried.) She lives in a trailer behind some place of business. I forget where. Not that there's anything wrong with being poor (been there more than once) or living in a trailer (been there; Mom's there now). I just hope that they can improve their lives. My brother said to me about Jennifer: "She's crazy, but I am too." lol

Well, not much else going on. I'm still feeling kind of sick. I was hoping I could go to church, but I'm not sure if I'll feel well enough to make it. :-(

Sean, American Idol

Sean's either having a reaction to the amoxicillin (hives? rash?) or another symptom of strep throat. I called the after hours number and talked to a nurse. If it's the amoxicillin, his tongue and throat could swell up. I have to keep an eye on him, keep him home from school, skip his morning dose and call the doctor in the morning. They may want to see him tomorrow to find out what's causing the rash.

He's taken amoxicillin a few times before (the last time was several years ago) and never had a reaction, so I'm hoping it's just the strep throat.

My mom called a few minutes ago (I called her after talking to the nurse to let her know what was going on) and she's coming over to help me keep an eye on Sean. She asked me if I wanted her to come over and I told her it was up to her. She'll probably sleep with Sean and then maybe I can get some sleep too. I'll need it so that I can take Kelly to school and Sean to the doctor, if they want to see him. I'd probably fall asleep at the wheel if I don't get any sleep tonight. Though I'm not sure if I can sleep even with Mom here as I'll still be worried.

American Idol (in no particular order):

Syesha - eh.

Jason - yawn.

David A. - eh.

Brooke - yawn. It was time for her to go. Hopefully Jason will be next.

David C. - good.

Maybe I wasn't really impressed with any of them (though David C. was pretty good on his second song) because I don't care for Neil Diamond or his music. It's all pretty blah, in my opinion.
