Birthdays and Ancestry DNA Results

Saturday, February 7th, was my 42nd birthday. I got a few books at Barnes and Noble (The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, The First Wife by Erica Spindler) and ordered one (Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy) from Amazon. I also got a small box of chocolate covered cherries from a local gourmet chocolate shop. What I really wanted more than anything was for Charlie to go to church with us yesterday, but he didn't. :-(

Later that evening, Charlie, the kids, and my mom and I went to Red Robin for dinner.

Yesterday, February 8th, was my daughter Kelly's 15th birthday. 15! So hard to believe. I know I say that every year. Just a few more years and she'll be an adult. It blows my mind a little. Kelly is a beautiful and wonderful daughter. Funny, smart, talented, and perfectly introverted. :-)

For her birthday, we got her a TV for her room (for video games and movies) and a few books (one of which I had to order from Amazon; it should be here this week). My mom got her a video game she was wanting. She played it all day yesterday after we got home from church.

We were going to go out to eat for her birthday, but she didn't feel like going anywhere, so Charlie ordered pizza from Domino's. I hate their pizza, so I had my leftovers from Red Robin.

Kelly wanted a red velvet cake for her birthday. The box stuff tastes weird to me, so I went to a bakery on Saturday hoping I could get a better tasting one from there. I had some last night and it tastes pretty good. :-)

I got my DNA results back yesterday from Ancestry.com. I don't know if it gets much more European or much whiter than me. lol I'm 99% European. Which is broken down like this:

Europe West (this would be my French, Belgian, Swiss, Dutch, and German ancestors) - 78%

Ireland - 6% (my most recent being my great-grandpa Tracy)

Scandinavia - 5% (my Viking ancestors)

Great Britain - 4% (I've found lots of English and some Welsh and Scottish ancestors in my research, including my Scottish great-great-grandma Mary Fraser)

Finland/Northwest Russia - 3%

Italy/Greece - 2%

Iberian Peninsula - 1% (my Spanish and Portuguese ancestors way back)

Trace Regions - 10%, including less than 1% Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Jordan, Greece, Italy, Kuwait, Palestine, Romania, Turkmenistan). I wonder which one is in me.:-)

The thing that confuses me is that there's no African or Native American. My 3x great-grandma Penelope Ivey (my maternal grandma's maternal grandma's mother) is listed as "Mulatto" on a couple census records, as are family on her dad's side. I guess their DNA or whatever didn't make it into my DNA.

Here's the map they gave me with my results:
