Everything went fine with Mom's chemo on Friday. Like the first time we went, there was a person (I didn't see him or her) who completed their final round of chemo. They rang the bell (one ding) and everyone applauded.
After about four hours of chemo, Mom and I went out for lunch and then she went home. Last time Mom had chemo she didn't feel tired until about four days after and then felt fine again a couple days after that. This time she started feeling tired a couple days sooner. She went home from work a few hours early on Sunday and didn't go to work at all yesterday. (She was off Monday and Tuesday.) She's going to try to work today.
She's lost most of her hair now, except for some in the back. They say when your hair grows back that it sometimes comes in thicker and curly and a different color. When she said that she wondered if the hair in back would come out, I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if it didn't fall out and then the hair on top came in a different color? People might wonder if you dyed it two different colors. You'd have to dye it so that it's all one color." We laughed about that. :-)
I've bought her a few head scarves and she's been wearing those. People have complimented her on her pretty scarves and she's told them, "My daughter bought them for me. She knows what I like." :-)
She has another round of chemo in a few weeks. Then she'll have to go through radiation for a few weeks, and then 3 more rounds of chemo. Just a few more months and she can put this behind her. There'll be a follow-up appointment about 6 months after her final round of chemo.
