Dishwasher, Pastor, Songs

Just a few little things I wanted to blog about. Mostly for me. Not that I have many readers. Which is fine.

Charlie said he's going to try to get off early today so that we can go buy a new dishwasher and go out to eat. Our current dishwasher is 19 years old. Charlie has fixed it a few times this year and the fixes worked for awhile. But now it's leaking again (no more than a quarter-size to 50 cent piece-size spot, for now) and I guess whatever's leaking is corroded or broken to the point where it can't be fixed. No surprise, considering its age. I don't need anything high-end or fancy or futuristic. Just something that is a good brand for a good price that will get our dishes clean.

Our pastor private messaged me on Facebook tonight/last night. That was a surprise. He told me that he was thinking about me and my family and "a wave of gratitude" rolled over his soul. That me, Charlie, and the kids are a "source of great inspiration" to him and his family. He ended it with "Love to the ______s".

Aww. Such a sweet, unexpected message to receive from my pastor. I thanked him and told him that we love him and his family. He messaged me back with a smiley face. lol

Recent temperatures have had me thinking about fall and going to the mountains and perhaps a festival or two. Then I saw the forecast for the next seven days. Low to mid 80s. :-/ While that's normal for September, the mid 60s to mid 70s really had me in the mood for fall. Oh, well. It won't be long till cooler temperatures are back and then we can enjoy the things we love about fall. :-)

These are the songs I have on my iPod. I'm sharing them because I love these songs (of course) and in case something happens and I can't remember what all I had, they'll be here for me to see.

Sadie, Books, Church

I brought Sadie to the vet Friday, September 1st. They took blood and urine to see if her infection was gone.

I talked to the vet Thursday, September 7th. Sadie's infection is gone, but one of the kidney values (?) is higher than it was a few weeks ago. So it looks like the kidney failure is progressing a little quicker than expected. The vet believes something more could be going on. Possibly cancer.

When they did x-rays a few weeks ago, they saw something near her spleen and some other organ. They could do an ultrasound, but that would be expensive and we really couldn't do anything about the cancer, if that's what it is.

The vet said we just have to keep Sadie as comfortable and happy as we can until it's time.

I went to the vet Friday, September 8th and got Sadie's prescription food (it's supposed to help with the toxins in her blood that the kidney failure is causing), but she doesn't like it. The vet said that if Sadie doesn't like the food, to just feed her what she wants. When she gets to where she no longer wants to eat at all, that's when we'll know.

I need to call the vet and tell them that Sadie doesn't like the food. Maybe she'll eat a different flavor.

The vet wants to check Sadie's blood again in 4-6 months, but I'll be surprised if she's still alive.

In the meantime, Sadie is acting fine. If she's feeling sick, she isn't showing it. She eats a little food several times a day, uses the litter box a normal amount, tries to attack Loki from time to time, and even had a running fit a couple weeks ago. She seems to be seeking attention from us more than she used to. She loves to be petted.

I finished reading Raging Sea on September 8th and started reading the third book in the trilogy, Heart of the Storm. I liked Raging Sea. I gave it 3 out of 5 stars at GoodReads.

The church I go to hosted the Men's Conference of our church organization last week. (Our church has hosted the conference for the past few years.) The first service was Thursday night. I went to the church a few hours before it was supposed to start to make sure the sanctuary looked neat and clean (we'd just had the carpets cleaned the day before, so I didn't have to vacuum the sanctuary) and to check the condition of the rest of the building. There were some water bottles and a few wrappers in the sanctuary (which Kelly and I picked up and threw away), but otherwise it looked fine. I then vacuumed the hallways, used the tall duster to get cobwebs in the halls, swept the foyer, cleaned doors, etc.

I went to the church before the Friday night service (there had also been a day service) and vacuumed part of the sanctuary. (There were wires and cables all across the floor of the sanctuary and recording/video equipment sitting around.) Then I went to the church again on Saturday (there had been a day service that day) and vacuumed the sanctuary again as well as the area behind the platform.

I spent hours there cleaning (about 3 hours on Thursday, about 30 minutes or so on Friday, and a little over 2 hours on Saturday), getting hot and sweaty in the process on Thursday and Saturday, but I love doing it. It feels good to help take care of "my" church. :-)
