Florence, Clothes, Books, and Music

Hurricane Florence made landfall on September 14th at Wrightsville Beach, NC. Not far north of my hometown, Southport. Thankfully, it was a category 1 storm and not the 4 or 5 they were expecting. So eastern NC was spared the devastating winds they could've gotten, but because Florence was so slow moving (about 2-3 mph once it made landfall) it dumped tons of rain. There has been a lot of flooding, causing many roads to be washed out and destroying many homes and businesses. Not all the flood waters have receded yet, but I think the rivers have crested and are going down now.

But now do they not only have to rebuild and get water systems working properly, among other things, but they are being swarmed by millions of large mosquitoes. They are spraying to try and kill as many mosquitoes as possible.

Following are clothing purchases I've made from about mid June to late August or early September. So it may look like a lot, but these purchases were made over about a three month period.

Vera Wang dress from Kohl's. Clearance. Paid about $11-12, over a month ago.

Purchased this at FYE over a month ago.

Khari top from Belk. Purchased about 2-3 months ago. I wear a black shrug over it.

Eliza J dress from Dillard's. Purchased 1-2 months ago.

Blush tank by Soprano, bought to go under the dress above to make it modest. Purchased at Dillard's, after searching several stores for a tank the right color, about a week after buying the dress.

I also bought a blue Wonder Woman T-shirt with a pocket on the left side (my left, when I'm wearing it) at FYE, but I can't find a picture of it.

When I wrote the entry before the one about Sadie, I was reading The Martian. I finished that one and liked it. I've since read A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir (very good), third book in a four-book series, and The Trickster's Lover by Samantha McLeod (it was okay; would've preferred less sex), a book about Loki.

I'm currently reading Seven Stones to Stand or Fall by Diana Gabaldon (short stories), Unfinished Tales by J. R. R. Tolkien, and Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman, second book in a trilogy.

The last time I listed new iPod song purchases was October of last year. I've bought several more songs since then.
