Easter shopping, Kelly and Books, 2 Memes

Went shopping Friday and got Sean a shirt for Easter and a pair of pants for school. He then went off with Charlie, and then Kelly and I picked up something to eat (Subway for me; Wendy's for Kelly). We then came home and watched Who Do You Think You Are? (I love that show!) and Say Yes to the Dress.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A group went to Kelly's school this past Monday and did Romeo and Juliet. She said part of it was funny. I guess they had to lighten it up a bit for elementary kids. Kelly enjoyed it and when she got home she wanted to read it. I have The Complete Works of Shakespeare, so Kelly grabbed it from my shelf and went to her room with it to read. I don't think she read much or understood it, but I'm glad she's interested. Here lately she's been reading a little of my copy of The Lord of the Rings. She asked me before bed which came first, LOTR or The Hobbit, and I told her The Hobbit. I guess she might start reading that and then continue with The Lord of the Rings.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I got the next two memes from The Queen's Meme.

1. Do you make a list when you go grocery shopping?
Yes.

2. Do you buy more groceries when you're hungry?
I wish I could, but unfortunately I can't afford to. :-/

3. Coupons. Use 'em?
Almost never. I don't get the newspaper, my printer doesn't work and most of the coupons I see are for products I don't use.

4. Have you ever complained to the manager of your grocery store?
No.

5. Do you like to buy groceries at huge chain stores like WalMart? Or do you shop exclusively at food stores?
Usually Food Lion and Target, but sometimes Wal-Mart if I really need to save money more than I normally do. (Some things are cheaper at Food Lion and Target, but the overall bill is usually cheaper at Wal-Mart.) I don't really like Wal-Mart much.

6. How much time do you spend reading labels in the grocery store?
Almost none.

7. Do you push your own grocery cart to the car and return it?
Of course.

8. What is the one food item you always buy at the grocery store that you can't live without?
I buy bread, cereal and snacks (chips, fruit, rice cakes) every week.

1. What is your favorite lipstick color and why?
I don't wear lipstick. I wear lip gloss and I try to keep it as natural-looking as possible and not too glossy.

2. How long does it take you to get ready to go to work in the morning?
No time at all. I work at home. :-)

3. Do you have your nails professionally done? Mani? Pedi?
No.

4. Tell us about your latest spa experience - real or imagined.
I've never been or imagined it.

5. Is there something you'd like to change about your appearance? Would you ever have cosmetic surgery?
I'd like to change everything about my appearance - hair, face, body. As far as comestic surgery, I'd have or at least consider getting liposuction and a tummy tuck.

6. How do you take care of your skin?
My face: I wash it with a facial cleanser, then use toner and moisturizer. My body: I wash with body wash and a loofah and then moisturize after I dry off.

7. Tell us your secrets for vibrant, shiny, healthy-looking hair.
I don't have any.

8. What is your favorite fragrance?
Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder.

9. Everyone has a certain color they love to wear. What is yours?
I look best in green (<--- about that shade; not too light or dark) and lavender, but I also enjoy wearing other colors like blue, pink, aqua, etc..

10. Do you have ink?
No. I think it's tacky and ugly.

11. How would you describe your personal style?
Classic, lady-like and feminine.

White Christmas and a Baby

Our tree and the "fireplace" on Christmas Eve.

Kelly with her new Barbie car and opening a snow-themed Moxie doll.

Sean with his new nerf gun. There were a lot of foam darts flying around on Christmas.

I took a lot of pictures on Christmas day, but only a few turned out clear enough and light enough to share. Most were so dark that even editing them didn't help.

Christmas presents from Kelly to me. A note/picture and some plastic animals - a cat, an antelope, a meerkat and a raccoon.

It started snowing early Christmas afternoon and continued on into Sunday. We ended up with about 4-6 inches. This was the first white Christmas I've ever had.

Taken the day after Christmas.

Christmas was nice. I had the house clean and looking festive, cooked a good Christmas dinner, wore a pretty red sweater with a black skirt, it was snowing, the four of us were together and the kids were happy with their gifts, as they always are.

Kelly and I spent most of yesterday watching TV. Our dog Pippin was sick (in a very gross way) and I spent the first hour or so of my day cleaning up after him. I had to wash his blankets (which were in his carrier where he'd spent the night) and his bed, clean out his carrier and give him a bath. Then I fixed him some rice (recommended by the vet a couple years ago when he'd gotten sick like this before) and a little beef broth (I'm out of the recommended chicken broth) to help calm his stomach. I didn't even attempt to give him Pepto Bismol this time. He just spits it out. What made him sick? The turkey skin my husband had fed him. *sigh* Toy poodles and their sensitive stomachs.

Anyway, one of the shows Kelly and I watched was Gene Simmons' Family Jewels. We watched a few episodes of that. In one of the episodes, Gene and his not-wife Shannon were in Amsterdam for a KISS concert, I think. A boy who lives in Amsterdam wrote a letter to Gene wanting to meet him and talk to him, which Gene agreed to.

The boy (Steve?), whose grandfather is a holocaust survivor, brought Gene and Shannon to the Anne Frank house. (I've been reading Anne Frank's Diary to Kelly.) Gene's mother is a holocaust survivor, something she never talks about, and Gene is very sensitive about that. He broke down crying when they walked into the Anne Frank museum and saw the pictures of Anne Frank. Anne Frank and Gene Simmons' mother were about the same age when they were captured by the Nazis. I started crying even before I saw Gene Simmons crying. (I think reading Anne Frank's diary made me more sensitive to seeing her pictures in the museum. It made it more real.) Seeing other people's tears always makes me cry, so when I saw him crying, I started crying even more. I knew Kelly was looking at me, but she didn't say anything and neither did I. I had to struggle to compose myself, well after the show broke for commercials.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for some exciting news. My brother Del and his wife Jennifer are at the hospital as I type this awaiting the birth of their first child together (she has an 8 or 9 year old son from a first relationship) - a boy named Drake. I'm so excited! Del called me shortly before 11 PM letting me know that Jennifer's water had broke and that they were fixin' to go to the hospital. I broke down crying on the phone and couldn't speak. lol I told him a few weeks ago that I would probably cry, and I did. When he was hanging up and said, "Good-bye. I love you.", I couldn't speak back to him and just hung up. lol
The problem is though, I can't get out of my driveway. It's sloped and is covered with ice and snow. If I tried to get out I'd probably slide all the way down and crash into the curb and mailbox of our across-the-street neighbors. My mom's going to try to come get me later today so that we can go to the hospital. If she can't, Del said he'd come get us. Hopefully the snow and ice will be melted from my driveway and our street by the time we decide to leave. We're going to try after noon in the hopes that things will be melted or melting by then.
I can't wait to see Drake and hold him! I'll probably cry again.
Our Evening and a Couple Songs
Kelly and I did the usual grocery shopping yesterday, as we do every Friday. Sean was with Mom and is spending the night with her. After bringing the groceries home, we picked up some food from Chick-fil-A (it had been a month or so since we last had it) and ate while watching TV. We watched a musical Christmas special and then What Not to Wear.
I told her about it being mine and Daddy's wedding anniversary and then I tried to sing my favorite song ("Endless Love" by Mariah Carey and Luther Vandross) to her from our wedding day. I say I tried because my throat is a little sore and my voice was cracking a lot while I tried to sing. Kelly thought it was funny.
After What Not to Wear, we watched some new show on TLC similar to Clean House. I fell asleep with about 5 minutes left in the show and didn't see the end results. :-/
There's a chance for snow or a snow/rain mixture today. I'm glad I don't have anywhere I need to go.
The kids just have two more days of school before Christmas break. Why does it seem like Christmas is coming faster this year?
Proverbs 15:1, 3-4, 6 "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. ... 3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. 4 A wholesome [gentle; soothing] tongue is a tree of life [brings healing]: but perverseness [a deceitful tongue] therein is a breach in the spirit [crushes the spirit]. ... 6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble."
15:10, 12-13, 17 "Correction [stern discipline; chastisement] is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof [correction; teaching] shall die. ... 12 A scorner [scoffer; mocker; corrupt man] loveth not one that reproveth [corrects; teaches; warns] him: neither will he go unto the wise. 13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. ... 17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith."
15:21, 25, 32-33 "Folly [foolishness] is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom [lacks judgment; has no sense; unwise; fool]: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly. ... 25 The Lord will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow. ... 32 He that refuseth instruction [rejects or ignores discipline/instruction] despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. 33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom [teaches wisdom]; and before honour is humility [humility precedes honour]."
Yesterday and Today
Ever had one of those days where you have too much energy and so you end up wearing yourself out? That was me yesterday. I woke up ready to do some serious cleaning. Well, semi-serious cleaning. I wasn't moving furniture or anything.
I cleaned both bathrooms, washed, dried, folded and put away laundry, dusted furniture, cleaned out both litter boxes (that's an all the time thing), mopped the kitchen floor. (I vacuumed the day before.) Then of course I cooked supper (spaghetti) and cleaned the kitchen.
After supper, I helped Kelly finish getting caught up on her make-up work (she's still a little fevered - 100.5° at times - but I hope to send her to school tomorrow) and helped Sean do a report/project on Colin Powell that was due today, but naturally he waited until the last minute to do it. He had to stay up past bedtime to finish it, but he got it done and turned it in today.
Once the kids were in bed, I did some picking up in the living room and dining room and swept up the dried mud Sean had tracked in.
At 1:00 AM I watched a show on the History Channel that Charlie texted me about. He knows I like WWII stuff and Band of Brothers, so he told me that a WWII show kind of like BoB (only it was a documentary) was on. It was a little after 9:00 PM and I was watching Lost (loooove that show), so I told him I'd watch it when they re-aired it in a few hours. It was on from 1:00 to 3:00 AM. I was pretty tired and I had a headache, but I watched it. Another episode comes on tonight.
I then took a shower. Yes, at 3:00 AM. I had hurt my back and my neck somehow the day before and was in a lot of pain. (So much so that I didn't even attempt to clean the tubs during my cleaning spree.) It's all on my right side. Sneezing (and trying not to sneeze) has been torture. Yawning, burping, taking a deep breath and laughing haven't exactly been a picnic either. Ibuprofen and a heating pad didn't help, but I figured I'd try hot water. The water felt wonderful and it did seem to help some.
I mentioned laughing not being a picnic. I found that out last night while helping Sean with his report/project. I was reading out to him what he had to write down and in one of many moments of distraction for him, I said the next word he was supposed to write a little louder to get his attention. The word was "Security" (as in "National Security Advisor") and the way I said it sounded kind of like I was calling for security.
We got a little tickled, but of course a little tickled turned into a lot tickled when I was saying "ow" and kind of grunting while laughing. The more I said "ow" and the harder I tried not to laugh, the harder I laughed and the harder Sean laughed. We were both crying with laughter (and I was beating on my desk a bit from the pain) and I thought Sean was going to fall out of his chair laughing. It was hysterical and very painful at the same time.
As I said earlier, Sean got to bed late, and of course he wasn't exactly bouncing out of bed this morning. But when I reminded him that he had drum auditions for band class after school today, he perked up and got ready quickly. He'd really like to play drums in band. (He currently plays the flute and is good at it.) Auditions were over at 4:45 and when I picked him up from school, he told me that there are five openings/slots available and that seven or eight kids auditioned. They're doing it again tomorrow and then try outs are next week.
------------------------
Today has been a rainy, sleety, snowy day, with more snow expected tonight. Though very little is expected to stick. Between AF (which always makes me tired) and such a gray day, I've been very sleepy today, even after getting what would normally be a really good nap. *yawn* I'm not sure I'll have the energy to make supper tonight. I reckon I'll make something simple like macaroni and tomatoes and do a big meal tomorrow night - cube steak, great northern beans, au gratin potatoes and corn.
Kelly Update
I took Kelly to the doctor at 11:00 AM yesterday. They listened to her lungs - no pnuemonia. Then they swabbed the inside of her nose (most unpleasant) and did a flu test - it was negative. She has a viral infection with the possibility of a sinus infection on top of that.
After leaving the doctor's office, we dropped off her prescriptions (amoxicillin & nasal spray) at CVS and came home. About 30 minutes later, we went back to CVS to pick up Kelly's medicine, which took longer than I thought it would (about 20-25 minutes) and then came back home. I gave her the amoxicillin right away and then I laid down to take a nap. I had only slept three hours the night before (had a hard time falling asleep) and needed more sleep badly. It was after 1:00 when I finally got to lay back down.
We left the house around 3:30 to get Sean from school. When we got back home I tried to sleep some more (I was still very tired), but couldn't fall back to sleep.
Kelly wanted scrambled eggs and fried potatoes for supper, so I made that as well as blueberry muffins. The potatoes were delicious. Even picky Sean loved them. Kelly barely touched her food though. :-(
The kids and I then watched American Idol, Lost (I love that show) and a little of the Olympics. After Sean finally went to bed, I fell asleep on the couch for about an hour and a half or so. When I woke up it was 1:30 AM and Kelly was in her bed with her light on, but not asleep. I called her into the kitchen and gave her another dose of her amoxicillin. I checked her temperature (especially since she was moaning) and it was 103.2°. That was almost two hours ago. Her fever just does not want to go away. Hopefully when the medicine really gets to working her temperature will get closer to normal and stay that way.
The doctor told me that if Kelly isn't any better in a few days to call them. I guess they'll want to see her again or maybe give her a different medicine if she's not improving.
What a cold day to be out running errands!
Kelly and I did a lot of running around after I got her from school. (Mom got Sean from his school when he got out.) I could've taken care of a couple things while the kids were at school, but it was literally freezing cold outside and I didn't want to go out in it. It was supposed to get into the low to mid 40s yesterday, but it only got up to about 34° or 35°. Plus there was a breeze. Brrr. So even though I was waiting for the temps to get into the 40s, I ended up having to take care of things with temps in the 30s anyway. :-/
Our first stop was the bank to get money out to pay for the new tags/stickers/whatever that go on the license plates of my car and Charlie's car hauler. They only accept cash and checks at the license plate place, unfortunately. We then went to the license plate place and the line was very short. I was surprised. Usually the line is almost to the door. This time there were only about three or four people ahead of us.
Next was Target for some of the groceries and an anniversary card for my husband. (Our 15th wedding anniversary is the 17th.)
Then I got gas, went to Macy's to get Kelly some tights (the ones I bought her a few weeks ago are too small, despite what the sizing chart said), which they only had one pair of in her size. So then we had to go to the mall to see if I could find her some more tights. I got her one other pair at Dillard's.
From there we went to Food Lion for the rest of the groceries, brought them home and then went to the video store.
Sometime over the summer, one of the guys who works (or worked; I don't think he's there anymore) at Hollywood Video told me about this deal (PowerPlay points) where I can pay a set amount for a certain number of points and then rent however many movies I can get with the number of points I choose. (Hard to explain.) It does save you money, especially if you rent movies often. Well, about a month ago I noticed that nearly $27 had been taken from my checking account by Hollywood Video. Come to find out, they had started automatically taking the money out of my account for the PowerPlay points. I didn't like that at all.
So when Kelly and I went there last night, I had them cancel my PowerPlay points. I still had some leftover points from the time they took money from my account a couple weeks ago and so we rented a couple movies: Julie and Julia, and the latest Harry Potter movie (Kelly wanted it; I'm not sure what the full title is). They told me I still have some points left, so I can get a couple more movies without having to pay since I've already paid.
After leaving the video store, we went to Borders to get a book or two. I didn't have much money, but I can't remember the last time I bought something for myself. Other than food, of course. But where's the fun in that?
I bought myself Willoughby's Return (a sort of sequel to Sense and Sensibility; I read somewhere that it's a good book) and Kelly got one of the Tinker Bell fairy books. There are a few other books I'd like to get (An Echo in the Bone, Cleopatra's Daughter, The Lovely Bones, Slipping into Paradise: Why I Live in New Zealand), whenever I have the money for them.
I may start reading Willoughby's Return soon. The book I started reading recently, Ahab's Wife, is a little weird so far (I'm on chapter 3 or 4) and that's kind of getting on my nerves. (While in hard labor, you find out there's a strange girl between the mattresses you are lying on and then you welcome her under the covers with you, begin rubbing each other's backs to get warm, and then kiss each other on the cheek? Weird.) It's gotten a lot of praise from what I've read, but it just seems weird so far. And the writing style is not like most books I've read. As if things are being left out. Or maybe that's just where the main character is in her mind right now. I don't know. Maybe I'll like it better some other time.
Anyway, it felt good to get into my warm house clothes when we got home. I watched a couple shows online that I had missed Thursday night. (Thanks to the sound issues with our cable box. The lady I talked to over the phone at TWC couldn't help at all. I'll try to get that taken care of on Monday. Which I'll have to do by going down there since there are no phone numbers to call that link me directly to them. All TWC phone numbers listed in the phone book connect you to their national number. *sigh*) I watched Survivor (I wish they'd get rid of Shambo and Russell) and Bones, which had me laughing so hard. I absolutely love that show.
I'll soon be putting Julie and Julia into the Blu-Ray player and watching that. I hope it's as good as I expect it to be.
Our Evening; Prayer Appreciated
The kids and I went to the park yesterday after getting Sean from school. (He gets out more than an hour later than Kelly.) Since the sun goes down earlier now, we stayed less than an hour. It was pleasantly cool out.
We went to one of the playgrounds first where Sean and Kelly played for a bit before we walked down to the lake. (One of four in the park.) They threw rocks into the water and watched the geese. When I saw Kelly chasing one of the geese I told her to stop scaring the poor thing.
A couple of the geese walk with limps. We saw one limping with fishing line trailing behind it from one of its feet. We felt awful about that. As we walked along the shore, we saw a lot of fishing line that had been left behind by unthinking fishermen. So the kids and I got up all the fishing line we saw and threw it away. Someone had even left behind a spool of it, with part of the line wrapped several times around a cypress knee. There were also a few wads of it lying around and some hanging from a tree. All of which we threw away.
Keep North Carolina clean and beautiful, people! And don't leave things behind that can hurt others or wildlife.
Anyway, as we were about to leave, I got a taste for Subway and even though I don't have a lot of money at the moment, I decided that that's what we'd have for supper. The kids were happy about that and it made me feel good to make them happy.
After getting our subs and chips, we came home and ate while watching the episode of The Amazing Race that I had DVR'd Sunday night while we were at church. I had already seen it later that night, but hadn't deleted it so that the kids could see it.
When we were done eating, I helped Kelly with her homework, talked with Mom a bit when she came over, and then the kids and I watched the premiere of the show V. I loved the original back in the 80s. I can remember my brother and I playing V. I would put on a red long-sleeved shirt, red skirt (I seem to recall that skirt being kind of itchy) and black boots. I guess that made me one of the "Visitors". Or maybe I was just a human pretending to be a Visitor because I don't remember being one of the bad guys.
When the kids were finally in bed, I did some channel surfing, watching a little of HGTV in the process, while waiting for one of my new favorites to come on at 10:00 - The Good Wife. Really good show.
----------------------------
The kids got their report cards on Monday. Sean got A's, B's and one C (in Social Studies) - just missing A/B honor roll. Kelly got A's, B's and Satisfactories.
----------------------------
For anyone who's been reading my blog for at least a week, perhaps you've read my past entries about how I've been going through a very difficult time for awhile now. It's still "going" and I'm still hanging in there. As I said in a previous entry, I don't cry as often now, but I still cry sometimes. I want so much for things to be good again. I'm trying to trust God (Psalm 4) to fix things and I pray all the time. Sometimes long, deep prayers. Mostly though just prayers I pray as I'm going about my day.
My kids don't know what's wrong or that anything is even troubling me. I try to be as normal as I can around them. I don't want them to worry or cry, so keeping them happy and doing well is a priority. Which is probably why something as small as them being happy about getting Subway made me feel good.
Also these past few days the pain in and around my ovaries has increased a bit. Usually a dull, constant ache (as it is now) with sudden stabbing and/or twisting pains that at times scare me a little. I got one while typing this entry that I would describe as being like lightning - a sort of flash or snap of pain that ran all the way across my lower abdomen in the ovary and uterus area. It honestly scared me a little to the point of causing me to breathe heavily as I waited to see if the pain was going to escalate, possibly meaning a cyst had burst. (I have PCOS, for those who don't know or have forgotten.) I've had a cyst burst before and I was literally doubled over in pain for two or three days.
Anyway, I know my blog entries aren't always full of sunshine. I apologize for that. I do try to keep the less than sunshiney entries to a minimum. But sometimes you just have to get things out, even if you aren't giving a lot of details about what's going on.
If anyone reading this believes in prayer, say a prayer for me and my family. I appreciate it.
Sean, Shopping, Book, DH
I haven't been feeling that great since Thursday, but have managed to get a little done around the house. Not that you could tell it now. :-\
I met with Sean's teacher after school yesterday. (Mom picked the kids up from school and they went with her to a big church conference.) We filled out the paperwork to get things started on testing Sean for ADHD. He (Sean's teacher) said it could take a little while.
After leaving the school about 25 minutes later, I went to Target for what grocery items I could get there, got gas ($3.13 a gallon unleaded) and then went to Macy's (which is across the street from the shopping center Target is in and from the gas station). I wanted to get a new gray sweater. Something more stylish and better fitting. (The one I have now is a little big on me and doesn't really have any shape to it. It's not very flattering.) I couldn't find a sweater I wanted, so I walked towards the shoes. (I needed a pair of comfortable black flats.) On my way to the shoes, I came to the coats. I browsed the coats and found a gray one I really liked. It's a nice wool coat that goes down about to my shins. It was on sale for $100 marked down from $200. I could use a new coat also, so I bought one. I then looked at the shoes and found a cute pair of black flats on sale.
From Macy's, I headed to Food Lion and got the rest of the groceries. I was pretty hungry since I hadn't eaten yet that day and picked up a few things that weren't on the list.
I was too hungry to cook anything, so I ate a bowl of the Target version of Lucky Charms for supper. It was pretty good, especially since I was practically starving. :-)
I watched my Friday shows - Life and What Not to Wear. I also watched House Hunters and House Hunters International. I tried to watch the new show, Crusoe, but I fell asleep less than an hour into the 2-hour premiere.
Mom brought Kelly home some time after 10:00. Sean is spending the night with Mom. They're having some kind of carnival where Mom works and she's supposed to bring the kids there. I might go watch a movie if I feel up to it. I'd like to see The Duchess. Kelly and I will probably go out for supper tonight.
I finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns yesterday. Really great book. Moving and powerful and real. Full of turmoil with just a few bright spots. The ending was sweet and brought a lump to my throat. I haven't decided what book I'm going to read next. I was thinking maybe John Adams or The Bourne Identity. Or I might read an older classic. We'll see.
Charlie is still in Texas. It'll be a month this Tuesday since he left. He thinks he could be home by Wednesday. I'll be so glad when he gets home. Since he couldn't get home this week, we obviously didn't go to Asheville for the weekend. So now we're going to try to make it the coming weekend. I really hope we can.
Our weekend and Yesterday
It's been a kind of dull past few days, with a few nice moments thrown in.
The kids and I went to Olive Garden for an early supper Friday before getting groceries and then going to Best Buy and buying Batman Begins on BlueRay. I also bought Sean a few long-sleeved shirts at Old Navy and Dillard's and a pair of khaki pants at Old Navy. I bought Kelly a cute, red, short-sleeved sweater dress at Target (along with black tights and a black tank to wear under it - it's kind of low cut) and a gray dress with a gray and green plaid skirt at Belk. She wore it to school yesterday. It looks really good on her. :-)
Mom picked up Sean Saturday afternoon. Later that evening, around 7:30, Kelly and I went to Monterrey's for supper. While we were there, Kelly drew a picture of one of her dolls that she had brought into the restaurant with her. Our waiter looked at it over her shoulder and told her it was very good. We've been going to Monterrey's for, gosh, about 13 years now. Maybe longer. They all know us, of course. Whenever we go and Sean and/or Charlie aren't with me, they ask where he/they are. At the register, they have a few little, clear plastic jugs of candy. Kelly and I always get four Tootsie Pops each. I only like raspberry. Kelly likes cherry, grape and chocolate.
Kelly and I got home from Monterrey's at about 9:00. I made chocolate chip cookies for us and we watched Enchanted on DVD. Such a cute movie.
I did a little bit of cleaning yesterday. Not that you could tell it now. :-\ At about 2:00, Charlie called wanting me to go to UPS for him to ship something out to him overnight. I picked Kelly up from school at 2:30, came home, found what Charlie wanted me to ship to him (something expensive and hard to get where he is in the middle of nowhere in TX), took a shower, got ready, picked Sean up from school at 4:30 (he had tutoring) and then we went to UPS. With that taken care of, we came home and I changed into something more comfortable, cleaned out the litter boxes, vacuumed and cooked supper.
After eating supper (steak, au gratin potatoes, corn, great northern beans), I helped Sean with his homework, made the kids get in the bed (Lord, they can be difficult about that), and watched Little People Big World, Heroes, CSI:Miami, and One Tree Hill (DVRed). Then took the dog out, fed the animals and started reading A Thousand Splendid Suns. (I'm on chapter four.) I finally finished reading The Age of Innocence yesterday morning.
And now I must get in the bed myself and get a few hours sleep before having to get the kids up and ready for school, then drive them to school, come back home and get a few more hours sleep.
Season Finales
Bones
- Thank God (well, the writers lol) Booth isn't really dead. David Boreanaz is the reason I started watching this show. What a shock that Zach was the apprentice. Wow.
House - Oh. My. Word. I didn't expect to cry my eyes out, but I did. For about the last 10 minutes or so I could not stop crying. If I had been the only one home, I would've sobbed loudly. lol
CSI: Miami - What?! I can't believe what's-his-face is a traitor. Wow. Didn't see that coming.
American Idol - Ack! I tried to vote for David Cook a couple times, but it was busy (I tried two of the numbers) and then forgot to try again. *sigh* Oh, well. It's not like he won't be successful if he loses. And, from what I hear, it's better for those who don't win. Still, it would be great to cheer if his name is called as the winner.
I can't wait for the season finale of Lost.
