Cancer

My mom (who will be 62 in July) went to the Ob/Gyn a couple weeks ago for the first time in a long time. She had just gotten health insurance through her job and was finally able to go to the doctor. She's always been healthy and wasn't expecting anything bad to be found. The doctor called that same week (the next day or the day after that) and said that the results of the pap smear showed cancer in her uterus.

About a week after that first doctor's visit, she went to one of the hospitals here in Greensboro for a CT scan. When she went to the hospital in Winston-Salem yesterday for her consultation, they told her that she has stage 2 uterine cancer. She called either her doctor or the hospital today to schedule her surgery. She's having surgery on April 11th. They're removing her uterus, ovaries, and cervix. She may or may not need chemotherapy.

Thank God she got insurance and went to the doctor when she did! If she hadn't had insurance, she wouldn't have gone to the doctor, and then the cancer would've been much further along by the time she got herself checked.

The cancer was caught early enough that the doctors expect her to be fine and to live many more years.

What is Love?

This is love ...

And this ...

What an amazing lady. And what a wonderful little French town to remember those who paid the ultimate price for their freedom.

Love bears all things and endures all things. Love never fails and never ends. In sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, till death do us part. Unconditional.
