Charlie's Job, New Clothes, and New Books

Charlie got home from TX/KS/GA a couple weeks ago. He had been gone about five weeks. He'll be going back to Georgia today, but should be home by Friday.

Charlie's been with his current job since July 2004. He didn't have to do a lot of traveling at first, but it seemed like the longer he was with this job the more he had to travel and for longer periods at a time. He's been sick of being away from home so much the past couple years. It looked like he might be able to have a different position 2-3 years ago that would keep him home, but someone else was brought in and given that position.

Well, this last time he was out of state, his boss Michael (and his boss's boss Jeff) offered him a position that would mean little to no traveling. (Probably nowhere outside of NC.) There were several conversations between Charlie and Michael and Jeff trying to work out salary and a couple other things. Jeff offered a certain amount of money a year and then said he thought they could do better than that. But then he came back with the same offer. :-/ Charlie said it would be less than what he's making now, but that we should be fine. He did get Jeff to agree to a little bit more. Hopefully there will be raises that will eventually get Charlie to where he'd prefer.

Charlie will start his new position June 20th.

I started feeling sick late Friday night, May 20th, with a sore throat. A few hours later, I had a low fever and body aches. By Sunday, I was coughing, but my fever was gone, so I went to a wedding that evening. (I had missed a graduation the night before and church that morning.) I left shortly after the wedding was over and was fevered again by the time I got home. I felt awful on Monday and Tuesday (the 23rd & 24th) and on Wednesday I woke up with pink eye in my left eye. That was a surprise. I had had it once when I was 10. I never expected I'd get it again. Anyway, my eye was feeling (and looking) pretty miserable by late Thursday night and I was hurting in my chest, ribs, and back from all the coughing, so I did something on Friday that I never do when I'm sick - I went to the doctor. I'm so glad I did. I started feeling a lot better after getting some medicine. My eye started looking and feeling better the next day.

So, looks like I'll be able to go to church tonight. Can't wait! :-)

The Friday night that I got sick (but before I felt sick) I did a little shopping and got a few things.

I got this dress at Macy's. It was $129 before the cashier scanned a coupon. $109 after coupon, but before taxes. It goes below my knees by a few inches. I'll wear a shrug with it.

I got this top at Dillard's. It's by Calvin Klein, I think. I can't remember how much I paid for it. $30 or $40.

I got this at Dillard's. I think I paid about $20 or $30. Necklace not included. I'm going to wear it in the fall with my black leather vest.

I got this shrug at Macy's for about $20.

I got this at Dress Barn 3-4 weeks ago for $28.

I got this at Dress Barn 3-4 weeks ago for $22.

Don't know what's up with all the red lately. lol It is my second favorite color after green. Wish I could find some cute items in green.

I got these sandals at DSW for about $40. They cost $125 at other stores.

I got these 3-4 weeks ago at Rack Room for about $30.

I was too sick to go to Barnes and Noble when two books came out that I wanted, so Charlie got them for me when he got off work. The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin and The Last Star by Rick Yancey. I couldn't read much at first because of my eye, but as soon as I was feeling better I started reading The City of Mirrors. This is the third book in a trilogy, so as much as I'm dying to know what happens, I'm kind of taking my time with it because I don't want it to end too soon. I'm trying to enjoy it for as long as I can.
