Shopping, Books, and Sick Pippin

After I got groceries Friday evening, I went to a couple stores looking for a new dress. (Birthday present.) I thought Kelly was going to go with me, but she didn't want to go anywhere. Then I asked Sean and he didn't want to go anywhere either. Charlie doesn't like me being out by myself after dark, so he went with me.

We went to Stein Mart first where I got these heels for just $45.

The brand name is Amelia Grace. Style: Viola. Color: Royal.

I saw another pair I also liked a lot that I might go back and get. They're also just $45.

Brand name is Kelly and Katie.

After we left Stein Mart, we went to Macy's where I got two dresses. They fit me really well. I wore the black one to church yesterday with a black shrug. I'm thinking of saving the pink (blossom) dress for Easter.

Calvin Klein. About $90 before tax.

The pink isn't as bright as it looks in the picture.

Then we went to Barnes and Noble where I got three books - Still Me by Jojo Moyes (part three in the Me Before You trilogy), A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas, and A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas. The two "Court" books are part 2 and 3 of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. The next book (3.5, I think), A Court of Frost and Starlight, comes out May 1st. Book four (untitled) comes out next year. These books are classified as Young Adult, but the sex scenes are too explicit for teenagers. I don't know what crazy person thought these were okay for teens. I've read the first two chapters so far of book 2 and was shocked. If they were considered adult fantasy (as in fairies), it wouldn't have been so surprising. I don't really enjoy sex scenes, but I know they're pretty common in adult books. I don't expect such scenes (beyond fading to black) in teen/young adult books. Kelly was going to read this series, but after I read the first book I told her that they're definitely not appropriate for teens.

Anyway, after leaving Barnes and Noble, we went to Red Lobster. It'd been a year or more I think since we'd been there and I was wanting some fried clams. I also got broiled flounder and a baked potato, but the clams and potato would've been enough. (I'd already had a cheddar bay biscuit and about 3 small mozzarella sticks.) I couldn't finish my food and brought the rest home. Charlie couldn't eat all his either. Kelly ate our leftovers after we got home. lol We figured she would.

Well, I really need to get off this computer now. It's after 4:00 AM and I need to go to bed. I would've gone to bed a little earlier, but Pippin is sick. (Vomiting and diarrhea.) He must've eaten something he shouldn't have. *sigh* I hope I don't wake up to any nastiness. I've got him leashed to a dining room chair so that if he gets sick again it'll be on tile and not carpet. Though I'll probably leave the crate open (which is in the dining room) so he can sleep on something soft. (There's a crate pad and pillows in the crate.) I hope he doesn't get sick in there.

Valentine's Date

Charlie and I went on our Valentine's date this past Saturday. We went to the mall first so I could get a dress (my birthday present), but I didn't see anything that would work for me. I saw a few at Dillard's that I thought were really nice, but they were too long. I didn't leave empty handed though. I found a jacket at JC Penney that I really liked.

Originally $70, I got it for $31 and change.

They also had it in black, but they didn't have my size. So, I ordered it from their website. It only took a few days to get it. Apparently it was shipped from Winston-Salem.

After we left the mall, we went to Salvino Cucina Italiana. I got what I always get - chicken piccata (pollo alla piccata). So delicious! Charlie got chicken parmesan (petto di pollo parmigiano).

Then we went to the church to vacuum. (I vacuum the church every Saturday.) Charlie has never gone with me before to vacuum. It was nice to have him with me. Though he jokingly said that he wasn't going to take me out on dates if I was going to make him work. lol

Three Birthdays and A Wedding

February 7th was my 45th birthday. Just five years away from 50. That's really hard for me to believe. I mean, I don't feel like I'm almost 50. Not that I know what that feels like. And I'm not sure I look like I'm almost 50 either. People tell me I look younger than I am. I look at myself in the mirror and I don't think I look almost 50, but maybe that's just because I'm used to my face or something. lol

Kelly's birthday was February 8th. She's 18 now. I'm now the mother of two adult children. How in the world did that happen so quickly? Weren't they both in single digits just a few years ago? *sigh*

Anyway, Kelly wanted to just go shopping and see what she could find since she didn't know exactly what she wanted. Charlie, Kelly, and I went to a few stores at the mall (Game Stop, Hot Topic, and FYE) and she got a couple games, a few T-shirts (I got one at Hot Topic), a pear-shaped lamp with a smiley face on it (it changes colors), and a few other things.

Charlie made me a chocolate cake and we got Kelly an Oreo ice cream cake. I went to a few stores last week looking for a dress and found two at Macy's that I thought were pretty (both by Tommy Hilfiger - one was black and red, and the other was cream, beige, and light pink), but they weren't quite long enough and one of them didn't look as good on me as I would've liked. I may go to Dillard's this weekend to try to find one.

T-shirt I got at Hot Topic.

Thursday, February 1st, Kelly's best friend Rene got married. Kelly was one of the bridesmaids. It was a sweet, lovely wedding. I cried through most of it. lol I've known Rene since she was a baby. She'll be 21 in April. Hard to believe she's a wife now.

Ancestry.com has these DNA cards you can do if you've had your DNA tested by them. You just choose a picture and then you can share it. Only the share options wouldn't show up for me. So I just did "Print Screen", pasted into Paint, cropped it, and then saved to my computer.

Mine. Europe West is France, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. Europe South is Italy. Other Regions is 1 percent Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), and less than 1 percent Caucasus.

Charlie's. Other Regions is 2 percent Ivory Coast/Ghana, less than 1 percent European Jewish, and less than 1 percent Asia Central (the 'stans.)

Charlie and I were going to go on a date tonight (last night now), but I just wasn't feeling up to it. I woke up feeling more like I'd awoken from the dead rather than from sleeping. I thought I'd start feeling better as the day went on, but I just never fully got to where I felt like going anywhere. So, no grocery shopping, dress shopping, or date night. We just stayed home. We may go tonight after I vacuum the church and get groceries.

Charlie's birthday is the 21st. He'll be 49. He never wants anything (and I have no idea what to get him), so I usually make him one of his favorite meals. I made tacos, enchiladas, and refried beans this week, so I'll be doing one of his other favorites for his birthday - fried pork chops, potatoes, macaroni and tomatoes, and a vegetable (corn on the cob or green beans). I'll also make his favorite kind of cake - yellow with chocolate frosting. And, of course, get him a birthday card.

Not much else to blog about for now really. I think there might have been something else, but I'm blanking at the moment.
